The international spotlight shone on the Gold Coast as Australia welcomed the 2018 Commonwealth Games to the city. With more than 6600 athletes and officials from 71 Commonwealth nations and territories over 11 days, this was the largest sporting event in Australia this decade.
Running alongside the Games was Festival 2018. In collaboration with Bleach Festival, Gold Coast City featured over 160 events from Coomera to Coolangatta, showcasing some of the best local contemporary works and artists together with performers from around the world. A dedicated arts and culture program, Festival 2018 saw more than 550,000 people attending the various events.
Events in Tents was proud to supply many of the marquees and structures for the Commonwealth Games and Festival 2018. Structures erected around the city, including parks and beaches were used for media, athletes, performers and festival-goers. Pop ups, pagodas, domes, F-series and P-Series marquees, staging and more were delivered.
Working together with the crew from EventCo, a purpose-built structure, custom designed by Events in Tents was constructed and delivered for the Channel 7 Sunrise studio to broadcast on the beach each day of the Games.
